We all enjoy our local parks – especially when they’re clean, safe and ready to use. That’s where Council’s rapid response parks team comes in.
This team responds quickly to urgent issues reported by the community, while also following a regular cleaning schedule across parks, reserves and playground cleansing.
While Council’s regular parks team mows, weeds, trims, cleans, and generally maintains our parks every day, these crews have not always been able to respond flexibly to immediate needs.
Created in the second half of 2025, the rapid response team’s work includes everything from the removal of litter, branches and debris to blowing down paths, playgrounds and sport areas. They focus on both urgent callouts and planned visits.
This two-person team visits over 80 parks each week. Their work also helps Council’s wider parks team to focus on other important scheduled cleansing work.
Thanks to the efforts of all our parks team, our playgrounds and open spaces are cleaner, safer and more welcoming for everyone.

Help us keep our parks clean
We can all help look after our parks, playgrounds and open spaces.
Thank you to everyone who does their bit by taking their rubbish home or using the bins provided.
Unfortunately, some park visitors are not doing the right thing and rubbish dumping is a serious problem.
If you see dumped rubbish, report it by using the Report it tool on our website. We’ll investigate and follow up the information provided.
