Brimbank City Council is establishing a new group to promote community inclusion and wellbeing and is seeking community members to play key roles.
Driven by the community, the aim of the Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) is to bring together diverse groups of people to support local initiatives that focus on social inclusion, wellbeing and mental health.
Applications are now open to join the group. Council is seeking expressions of interest from residents with lived experience, people with strong local connections, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and members of our culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community.
Brimbank Mayor, Cr Thuy Dang said the group will have a unique opportunity to change people’s lives and improve the community through the inclusion and wellbeing initiatives it develops.
“We want the group to represent our community, so we’re looking for people from all walks of life, with different skills and perspectives and who can learn from each other,” Mayor Dang said.
“If you have lived experience of isolation or if you want to help make Brimbank more connected then we would encourage you to get involved.”
The group will meet regularly to identify needs and support initiatives to increase social connection and belonging.
By joining the group, you’ll be supporting your community while also gaining new skills, accessing professional development and being compensated for your time.
Expressions of interest to join SIAG are open until Tuesday 21 October. To learn more or submit your interest, phone 9249 4000 or visit yoursay.brimbank.vic.gov.au
