Brimbank hosts wellbeing events for Mental Health Week

Brimbank Council is holding a series of socially-inclusive activities to promote wellbeing for Mental Health Week (9-17 October 2022).

Mental health is a significant issue in Brimbank, according to the Victorian Population Health Survey.

Brimbank residents reported lower levels of wellbeing than the rest of Victoria and women reported more psychological distress, anxiety and depression than men. Loneliness is also a problem many face.

“It’s important for residents to take care of their mental health, which is why Council has scheduled a series of events to help people connect and improve their wellbeing,” Brimbank Mayor Cr Jasmine Nguyen said.

This year’s activities include:

  • Pre School Yoga Storytime
  • Social Table Tennis
  • Mindfulness and Meditation
  • Parents and Bubs Yoga
  • Young @ Heart seniors social media
  • Connect & Chat
  • Twilight Nature Walk
  • Teen Gaming webinar for parents
  • Kororoit Creek Walk and Community Planting
  • Community Bike Ride
  • Study Skills for Life with Equal Ed.
