Residents, businesses and community groups across Brimbank are being encouraged to have their say on the future of their city, with Brimbank City Council’s draft Annual Action Plan and Budget 2026/2027 now open for public consultation.
The draft plan outlines how Council will deliver on the vision set out in the ‘We Are Brimbank’ Council Plan 2025–2029, creating “a proud and vibrant Brimbank that is beautiful, thriving, healthy and connected.”
Community feedback is being actively sought before the plan and budget are finalised and presented for adoption at the June Council Meeting, with Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos explaining the release of the draft plan marked an important opportunity for residents to help shape priorities for the year ahead.
“The release of Council’s draft Annual Action Plan and Budget provides an important opportunity to hear directly from our community about what’s most important to them for the year ahead,” Mayor Cr Tachos said.
“We have heard what is important to you; better roads and transport, more parks and green spaces, action on illegal dumping and improved community facilities, and we are investing in these areas to support a safer, more connected and inclusive community.
“The draft Annual Action Plan and Budget strikes a careful balance between managing costs in a tough economic climate and continuing to provide the services and facilities our community relies on.”
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to have their say, so we can deliver the best outcomes for our community,” Mayor Cr Tachos said.
The draft Action Plan and Budget sets out 67 actions aligned to four key Strategic Pillars:
- People: supporting health, wellbeing and inclusive communities
- Places: improving our parks, roads, facilities and local environment and responding to climate emergency
- Prosperity: supporting education, local jobs, business and infrastructure growth
- Leadership and Governance: building trust, strengthening engagement and managing community resources responsibly
The proposed 2026/2027 budget includes:
- Total operating expenditure of $298.98 million
- $69.11 million investment in capital works
Funding has been allocated across a wide range of community services, with the operational budget supporting 80 different service areas, including maternal and child health, planning, arts and culture, and urban design.
Community input will play a critical role in shaping the final document, ensuring local priorities are reflected in how services are delivered and funded, and supports residents at every stage of life, from early years through to older age.
