The Victorian Seniors Festival returns in October for its 43rd year with a month-long program of free and low-cost events, activities and performances.

This year’s theme – Connect, Create, Celebrate – invites seniors to come together, try something new, and enjoy the sense of belonging that community events bring.
The theme is all about strengthening community ties, exploring new opportunities, and recognising the valuable contributions of seniors.
- Connect is about building friendships and reducing isolation through social gatherings and shared experiences.
- Create encourages seniors to discover or rekindle their passions – whether through sport, music, art or theatre.
- And Celebrate is about honouring the wisdom, achievements and diversity of older people in Brimbank.
Across Brimbank, the program offers something for everyone – from sport and leisure to theatre, music, food and fun. Festival highlights include Be Active Brimbank: A come-and-try sports day (1 October), and a Golf Day (2 October).
For those who enjoy theatre, Playing Second Fiddle, Major Song, Minor Character will be performed by Victoria Mantynen (4 October), and community favourite Bocce, Blokes and Burgers returns on 30 October.
To ensure no one misses out on what’s on offer with this year’s calendar of events, the Brimbank Seniors team has expanded the way information is shared. Slips highlighting festival events will be included in the rates notices that go out to households.
Council recognises that not all seniors will have access to a laptop or PC and has organised booking assistance sessions which will be held at the Sunshine and Sydenham libraries.
These sessions will be held on 15 September, from 11.30am–12.30pm. Friendly staff will be available to support participants through the booking process.
