Newly appointed CEO Fiona Blair

Fiona Blair announced as Chief Executive Officer

Fiona Blair has been appointed the new CEO for Brimbank City Council.

Ms Blair is a highly regarded leader in local and state government, with extensive experience as a senior executive. In 2017 she was recognised for her leadership in the inaugural Top 50 Public Sector Women award.

Her skills and experience span across all areas of Council service planning and delivery. This includes youth and recreation, capital works, parks and open space, asset management, enforcement and operations.

Most recently, Ms Blair was the Executive Director of Transport Planning at the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport. Here she led the development of the Victorian Bus Plan and integrated transport planning.

Prior to this she held senior executive roles at the City of Port Phillip, where she oversaw the Infrastructure and Amenity division.

Ms Blair played key roles in the transformation of the South Melbourne Market and the planning of Fishermans Bend, Australia’s largest urban renewal area.

Mayor Cr Jasmine Nguyen said: “Brimbank Council is absolutely thrilled to have appointed such an inclusive, strategic and experienced leader as the new CEO of Brimbank.”

“I congratulate Fiona and welcome her to Council.

“Fiona has the skills, experience and love of the West to bounce Brimbank back and make us the best City and community we can be.”

Ms Blair said: “I love the West, it’s unique, inclusive, and proud and has a real sense of community.

“I look forward to working closely with the Councillors to help realise their vision for Brimbank and build on the high level of service provided to the community.

“Together with Councillors, the organisation and community, we will continue to build on the great work to improve Brimbank through capital works, urban renewal and the services we provide.

“I’m delighted to be returning to local government for a Council that has such a strong sense of purpose and delivers such a robust program of services and capital works.”

Ms Blair will start in the role on 24 January 2022 replacing Interim CEO Warren Roberts.

Ms Blair was recruited following an extensive recruitment process.
