March is Kindergarten Readiness Month – the perfect time for families to learn how to register for funded three and four-year-old kindergarten in Brimbank.
What’s on offer
From 17-26 March, local sessional kindergarten providers will host a series of open days giving families the chance to explore local kindergartens.
Come along and meet educators, ask questions and learn how kindergarten supports your child’s social, emotional and educational development.
Council will also run drop-in information sessions throughout March to help families understand the kindergarten registration process.

Kindergarten is important
Kindergarten supports children’s learning and development before they start school, helping build confidence and a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Kindergarten registrations
Three and four-year-old children can access free sessional kindergarten, or attend low-cost integrated sessions offered through long day care centres.
Registrations for 2027 kindergarten are now open.
Please note sessional kindergarten places are limited. Council allocates available places using a priority of access system in line with the Department of Education’s Central Registration and Enrolment Scheme Best Practice Guidelines.
Brimbank Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos said:
“Kindergarten Readiness Month is a wonderful opportunity for families to explore local kindergartens, discover what’s on offer and learn how to get started.
“Throughout March, we encourage families to visit kindergarten open days, learn about the registration process, and gather the information they need to choose the right kindergarten for their child.
“Attending kindergarten helps children build important life skills, including creativity, social and emotional growth, and early reading and language skills.
“We invite families to come along, explore your options and help set your child up for a smooth and successful transition to school.”
