The facilities at Ralph Reserve have been upgraded to make them inclusive and accessible to everyone in the community.
The $1.5 million project is part of Brimbank City Council’s Inclusive Facilities Upgrades program, which aims to increase opportunities and participation in sport for female and gender-diverse players and officials.
The change rooms have been completely refurbished with a gender-neutral design, making the facility accessible for all. Separate, lockable shower stalls and accessible toilets have also been installed, improving privacy and access for players of all abilities.
Umpires and officials can now prepare in their own rooms, away from the players. The bathroom amenities in the main club room have also been refurbished, with accessible toilets and baby change facilities.
Ralph Reserve is home to the Western Suburbs Soccer Club and is a thriving social space for the local community.
Brimbank Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos said everyone should feel welcome and valued at our community sports venues.
“These upgrades mean that everyone can be part of the community here, whether they’re a player, spectator, volunteer, or just here to meet friends and play cards.
“Local sports clubs bring people together and build community cohesion. When we invest in our sporting facilities, we’re also investing in the health and wellbeing of our whole community.”
