With improved library services, a new walking trail and a nearly completed community sporting facility, there’s plenty happening around the Grasslands Ward.
Grasslands Ward includes:
- Albanvale
- Cairnlea
- Deer Park
- Kings Park
- The western part of the suburb of St Albans.
Improved library services.
Street Libraries are popping up in your neighbourhood, with four recently installed near parks and reserves throughout Brimbank. Simply take a book, share a book, and build on your love of reading. You can also add books to the libraries
for others in the community to enjoy.
Head to the Brimbank Libraries website at brimbanklibraries.vic.gov.au to learn more, and find the exact locations for these fabulous little libraries at:
- Buckingham Reserve, Sunshine West
- Balmoral Park, Derrimut
- Kevin Flint Reserve, Cairnlea
- Norm Talintyre Reserve, Sunshine West
The Sensory Friendly Hour has resumed at Deer Park Library on Saturdays between 10–11am.
We aim to provide an environment with reduced noise, lighting and distractions for customers on the autism spectrum, and community members with heightened sensory needs.
The service builds on existing library programs for families with children with heightened sensory needs, including Sensory Story Time, offered at Deer Park Library every Friday at 10am.
Visit our website brimbanklibraries.vic.gov.au to learn more about accessibility services and facilities at our libraries.
New shared user path.
Check out the new 1.7km Kororoit Creek Shared User Path in Albanvale between Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve and Shepherds Grove.
This is improving access for cyclists and pedestrian with wide concrete paths, signage, bike safety fencing and beautiful native vegetation to support habitats for endangered legless lizards and other native fauna.
New sports pavilion around the corner.
Get ready for the new Sports Pavilion at Bon Thomas Reserve in Deer Park.
The works are at the finishing stages with final installations and connections taking place.
