I have proudly been representing and serving our Brimbank community as a Councillor since 2016, I was one of four Councillors re-elected in 2020.

As a Councillor, I co-chair the Innovation and Prosperous portfolios. The combination of these portfolios is very exciting as they focus on new ideas, the future of Brimbank and Council operations and in particular job opportunities for our residents.

As well as being chair on Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee, I am also the nominated Councillor for the Metropolitan Local Government Waste Management Forum. In this role I assist in the implementation of the State Government’s ‘Waste and Resource Recovery Policy – Getting Full Value’ and management and administration of waste disposal contracts.

I am also part of the Melbourne Regional Landfill Community Reference Group, an external group convened by TPI Cleanaway, and as a delegate of this group I also sit on the review panel for Cleanaway Community Benefit Fund, which is intended to support local sustainability projects, which will benefit the community or local environment.

Recently, I travelled to Canberra with seven other Brimbank Councillors to advocate for Brimbank on a national platform at the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly. We joined the assembly of more than 800 Mayors and Councillors from around Australia, giving us the opportunity to advocate for important priorities during meetings at Parliament House.

Brimbank Council raised four notices of motion at the assembly, which were all unanimously supported and carried. These motions called on the Australian Government to:

  • establish and administer a dedicated Jobs and Skills Partnership for LGAs
  • declare a climate emergency
  • retain and expand the JobKeeper and JobSeeker Programs
  • invest in social and affordable housing.

Visiting Canberra in person gave me the opportunity to engage directly with the Federal Government to influence the future direction of our Brimbank community.

You can always give me a call 0429 637 689 or drop me an email if you want to discuss anything Brimbank-related.

Look after yourself and stay safe.
