We have reviewed a range of governance policies, in line with our commitment to maintain up-to-date polices and strategic reviews.
We think these updates will help make our Councillor requirements clearer and easier to follow.
Now we’d like to get your feedback.
These draft updated policies are open for your feedback
- Councillor Code of Conduct
- Councillor Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality Policy
- Livestreaming of Council Meetings Policy
- Public Transparency Policy
- Councillor Support Policy
- Revoked: Councillor Transparency Policy
- Revoked: Councillor Respectful Conduct Policy
- Revoked: Councillor Protocol.
The last three on the list are identified as suitable to be revoked because they duplicate existing content and/or their content can be transferred to other policies.
Councillors must comply with a range of policies and associated documents (governance policies). Some governance policies are mandatory under the Local Government Act 2020; others are not mandated but support good governance. Broadly, Council’s governance policies serve the important purpose of guiding Councillor conduct and supporting integrity and legislative compliance.
