Have your say on the JR Parsons Reserve playground upgrade

You’re invited to have your say on a proposed upgrade at JR Parsons Reserve, Sunshine.

We’re planning to upgrade the playground at JR Parsons Reserve to provide a bigger, newer and more accessible suburban park for the local community to enjoy.

What’s proposed

A draft concept plan has been prepared which includes:

  • Multi-play tower unit with slide, climbing and interactive elements
  • Six-metre high activity climbing net
  • Four-bay swing set catering to all abilities
  • Cantilevered basket swing
  • Inclusive spinner
  • Nature and sculptural play elements
  • Teen area with basketball half court, bouldering element and seating
  • Picnic area with shelter, BBQ, picnic tables, and general waste bin
  • Deck under the elm tree to create a shared gathering space for all ages
  • New pathway through the play space with seating, drink fountain and bike rails
  • Tree planting to provide shade.

Have your say

Residents are invited to share their feedback on the draft concept plan.

More information

The playground is one part of the JR Parsons Reserve redevelopment which includes a new cricket and football pavilion, a new tennis pavilion and carpark improvements.

This project forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to delivering the Creating Better Parks Policy and Plan (2016). The aim is to ensure the community has fair access to a diverse range of park and playground facilities in local neighbourhoods and surrounding areas. The existing playground is over 15 years old and no longer meets the quality standards expected of suburban parks in Brimbank.
