Horseshoe Bend Ward update – Autumn 2022

There’s plenty happening in Horseshoe Bend Ward! Horseshoe Bend Ward covers:

  • Kealba
  • Keilor Park
  • The Brimbank parts of the suburbs of Keilor, Keilor East and Tullamarine
  • The eastern part of St Albans.

Firstly, it’s great to see football and cricket clubs have resumed training. Game day matches at Errington Reserve are now using the new sports pavilion!

With community safety a top priority, Council and key stakeholders have been working with Police and community services to support sporting clubs to return to the reserve.

Youth Urban Plaza construction is underway

Construction of the new Youth Urban Plaza on the corner of Main Road East and Percy Street is underway. The precinct includes a multifunctional space for gathering, skating and public events.

We expect demolition and earthworks will be completed soon. The plaza is expected to be completed by June 2022. The Youth Urban Plaza is the last stage of the Errington Precinct Master Plan 2012.

Council is also applying for funding from the Victorian Government’s Building Safer Communities program to improve community safety between the St Albans Community Centre and the Tin Shed.

We want to improve linkages between the two facilities. We also want to provide a community garden and pop-up shipping container that will support a program of activities for young people.

Have you checked out the latest events at the Bowery Theatre?

This lovely local arts venue is a short walk from the St Albans train station.

You can still catch the Fabulous and Impossible Exhibition by Tom Christophersen at the Bowery Gallery.

Then, in April there’s a classical music weekend and heaps more programs to enjoy.
