Mits Mits the miracle cat returns home

When Dean’s much loved cat Mits Mits disappeared three years ago, he went to great lengths to find his feline friend.

But after putting up posters, calling every local vet clinic, months of walking around his local streets of Kealba – he sadly accepted that Mits Mits probably wasn’t coming back.

That’s why a phone call just a few days ago gave him quite a shock. Mits Mits – who was identified by his microchip – had been dropped off less than 5kms away at a St Albans vet clinic. He was alive and well, apart from some fleas and scabs that could quickly be sorted.

“I started screaming my head off. I got excited, I was really happy,” Dean recalled the phone call.

The reunion was also great. After an hour of adjusting to his old home, Mits Mits found his favourite sock draw that he’s always loved to sleep in. Dean said.

“It still doesn’t feel real. I refused to get another cat. I knew we would never get another cat like Mits Mits.

And for Mits Mits.

“He’s purring 24/7. He’s happy”

Register to Reunite

The happy reunion was made much easier because Dean microchipped Mits Mits, and has kept his own contact details up-to-date with the service. This story highlights the importance of getting cats and dogs microchipped and registered with your local council with up-to-date contact details.

Not only is this a legal requirement for pet owners, it is the best way to improve the chances of missing pets being returned to their owners.
