NAIDOC Week celebrations in Brimbank are coming alive, and Brimbank City Council is inviting everyone to join the fun from 5-12 July 2026.
This NAIDOC Week, Council is holding a range of activations to celebrate the history, culture and enduring knowledge of First Nation peoples and their connections to Country. The events are free to attend and open to the community.
About NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The week is celebrated not only in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. It’s a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities, to learn more about our First Nations culture and history, and to show your support.
This year’s theme, Fifty Years of Deadly, marks a significant milestone, honouring the Elders, organisers, artists and communities whose strength, leadership and ongoing contributions have shaped and sustained the movement over five decades.
Brimbank Mayor, Cr Virginia Tachos said Council looks forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week.
“Through listening, learning and working together, we’re helping shape a city that is more inclusive, respectful and connected.
“We invite everyone to join in our NAIDOC Week activities to come together as a community to reflect on the history and celebrate the contributions of First Nations Peoples in Brimbank during this special milestone for NAIDOC.”
There are many free activities happening across Brimbank during NAIDOC Week including our Flag Raising Ceremony and celebration, fun and creative workshops and programs, crafts, storytelling and so much more.
