About 130 people recently braved wintery Melbourne weather to plant over 6000 native grasses as part of National Tree Day in Brimbank.
Brimbank Council’s conservation team partnered with Friends of Kororoit Creek to host the planting day at Buckingham Reserve, in Sunshine West.
Brimbank Mayor Councillor Thuy Dang, Cr Lucy Nguyen and Cr Joe Bauch also joined the fun day.
“A big thank you to everyone who attended. You have helped enhance a beautiful natural space and created much-needed habitat for species like the eastern long-necked turtle,” Mayor Dang said.
This event and associated conservation activities along Kororoit Creek is supported by the Victorian Government through the Green Links Grant Program.
