Brimbank City Council is encouraging local residents and landowners to have their say on Melbourne Water’s new draft stormwater flood maps for Brimbank, which are now open for feedback.
The draft maps are available online at Melbourne Water’s website where you can enter your address, understand any changes to your flood risk and provide feedback.
The modelling details stormwater flood information based on current conditions and future climate scenarios to the year 2100. Similar modelling is being done for to identify flood risk across Melbourne.
Based on best-practice modelling reflecting the growth of our community and how climate change may impact properties, it shows 87 per cent of Brimbank will not be at risk from stormwater flooding.
This project is being delivered by Melbourne Water and all feedback and queries should be directed through their channels.
Brimbank Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos said it was important for all Brimbank residents to know how future flooding may impact their properties.
“We’re working closely with Melbourne Water to make sure everybody in our community is aware of this mapping and understands how it affects them.
“If you live in, or own a property that may be at future risk, it’s important you know exactly what this means.
“We will be sharing regular project updates from Melbourne Water through Council’s media and social media channels and opportunities where our community will be able to have its say.”
