Premier vows to improve community safety following Sunshine tragedy

Following the tragic passing of local trader Van Viet Truong, Mayor Cr Virginia Tachos spent this afternoon on Hampshire Road laying a wreath outside Viet’s business and offering condolences and support to his family members, local traders and the community.

Mayor Tachos was joined by Victorian Premier Ben Carroll, Minister for Police Paul Edbrooke and local members Natalie Suleyman MP and Sarah Connolly MP who also expressed their condolences on Viet’s passing. The Premier later announced key commitments including more police on the beat in Sunshine and increased support for the local Vietnamese community.

We’re heartened by the Premier’s visit and his commitments to improve the safety and wellbeing of our Hampshire Road traders and our wider Sunshine and Brimbank communities.

Council remains committed to working with State Government to keep our community safe.
