Provide your feedback on the draft Road Management Plan

We’re reviewing our Road Management Plan, which guides how we inspect, maintain, and repair municipal roads, footpaths, and associated assets. It sets inspection frequencies, response times, and repair standards to help keep our roads safe and usable.

Did you know:

  • Brimbank maintains a whopping 908.1 km of roads – enough to drive from Sunshine to Sydney!
  • 99.7% of roads are sealed. Only 5.44 km of Brimbank’s roads are unsealed – meaning most of your daily drives are on smooth surfaces.
  • Council manages local and collector roads, but VicRoads handles the arterials and highways.

This plan ensures we meet our responsibilities under the Road Management Act 2004 and maintain a safe and effective road network.

What is the Road Management Plan?

The Road Management Plan outlines how Brimbank City Council manages and maintains its local road network, including roads, footpaths, bridges, and drainage within road reserves.

Why is Council reviewing the Road Management Plan?

Under the Road Management Act 2004, Councils must review their Road Management Plans following each State Governmnet election. This ensures our approach remains relevant, effective, and reflects current community expectations, asset conditions, and available resources.
What types of roads does Council manage?

Brimbank City Council manages municipal roads, including:
– Local access roads
– Collector roads
– Sub-arterial roads

We do not manage freeways or declared arterial roads — those are maintained by the Victorian Government (e.g., VicRoads).

What’s included in the consultation?

We are asking the community to:
– Review the draft Road Management Plan 2025–2029
– Provide feedback through a short survey
– Drop pins or comments on our interactive map
– Share ideas or suggestions for better road and footpath services

What happens to my feedback?

All feedback from this consultation will be reviewed and considered as part of finalising the Road Management Plan. A summary of the feedback and the final Plan will be presented to Council for adoption.
