Share your thoughts on the new Draft Integrated Water Management Strategy

We want the community’s feedback on our 10-year plan to protect one of our most precious natural resources – water.

Because water impacts so many areas of our everyday lives, it’s important that we have a comprehensive plan to manage water effectively and ensure our waterways, environment and community can continue to thrive.

Brimbank Council has endorsed the Draft Brimbank Integrated Water Management Strategy 2025–2035 to be released for community consultation.  We’d now like to hear from the community about their thoughts on this strategy.

The importance of integrated water management

Integrated Water Management considers all aspects of the water cycle. It also recognises that we must work closely with other groups who have a stake in water management to get the best outcomes for the community and environment.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Thuy Dang said managing water comes with many challenges.

“Our population is growing and so is its need for water. But things like climate change and less rainfall are making it harder to keep our water supply secure. Climate change also means we’re seeing more heavy rain events, which increases the risk of flooding,” Mayor Dang said.

“In Brimbank, we know our community cares about the environment. Looking after our water is an important part of building a strong, healthy, and sustainable future.”
