Brimbank locals can now hop on board the brand new SkyBus Sunshine Express, offering a direct service to and from Melbourne Airport and Sunshine Station.
The Sunshine Express will operate from a bus bay (Bay 6) at Sunshine Station and provide pick up/drop off points at terminals T1 and T4 at Melbourne Airport. It will travel directly to and from Melbourne Airport and Sunshine Station via the M80 Ring Road.
“Thanks to the SkyBus Sunshine Express, people in the west can now travel to Melbourne Airport without having to go all the way into the city first. This is going to make getting to and from the airport quicker and more convenient,” said Brimbank Mayor Cr Thuy Dang.
“This is a great development for the City of Brimbank and means more people will get to experience Sunshine on their way to and from the airport.”
The new route complements SkyBus’ current express services to Melbourne Airport, servicing the Melbourne CBD, bayside suburbs, and the eastern suburbs, and is the first SkyBus route in Melbourne to run as 100% electric.
This means people travelling from the west and the western district can get to the airport more easily, with more people travelling to Sunshine to make connections.
“SkyBus is an iconic Melbourne service, and we’re excited to bring the Sunshine Express to the City of Brimbank, offering direct public transport to Melbourne Airport,” said SkyBus General Manager Audrey Speziale.
“We’re proud that this is the first SkyBus route in Melbourne to be 100% electric, offering a zero-emissions ride to and from the airport for Melburnians and visitors to the city,” said Ms Speziale.
“Thank you for the warm welcome to the neighbourhood, and we look forward to welcoming you on board the Sunshine Express!”
The Sunshine Express runs seven days a week, with departures every 30 minutes. For timetable and tickets, including a great introductory special, go to www.skybus.com.au.
