Stories of Resilience and Healing from Brimbank City Council. Refugee Week is coordinated by the Refugee Council of Australia

Stories of Resilience and Healing in Refugee Week

To mark and celebrate Refugee Week 2022, Brimbank Council is inviting community members to a special event at Sunshine Library on Wednesday evening. Join us to hear from some Brimbank refugees who have made a significant impact and contributed to our local community.

They will share stories of their settlement journeys, the challenges faced and how they overcame these challenges to begin healing.

Refugee Week in Australia happens every year from Sunday to Saturday around 20 June (World Refugee Day). For 2022, it will be held from Sunday 19 June to Saturday 25 June with the theme this year being: HEALING.

This week shines a positive light on refugees to encourage a welcoming culture throughout the country. Ultimately we hope to create better understanding between different communities and encourage successful integration. We want to enable refugees to live in safety and to continue making a valuable contribution to Australia.
