Sunshine Masterplan a major win for the community

Have your say on the draft Sunshine Station Super Hub Masterplan

The State Government has released a draft Sunshine Station Super Hub Masterplan.  The draft plan draws on the vision Brimbank Council established for the CBD.  This vision was based on extensive community and stakeholder feedback.

The plan has nine project ideas which include:

  • improved walking and cycling links over the railway line at Hampshire Road Bridge,
  • new open and mixed-use spaces, and
  • a better, more integrated bus interchange.

The draft Masterplan recognises that the Super Hub precinct must unite not divide.  It also makes clear there must be a focus on  the community not just commuters.

The draft Masterplan lays the foundation for Sunshine becoming a major employment and tourist destination.

The Sunshine Station Masterplan is another major step forward in Sunshine becoming the future economic powerhouse of Melbourne’s west.

The State Government is seeking feedback on the draft Masterplan.

Consultation closes on 10 April and includes online and in person activities.

Cr Jasmine Nguyen, Brimbank City Council Mayor said “It is a great step forward to see Brimbank’s vision for Sunshine come to life through this draft Masterplan.

“Council has been advocating for the Melbourne Airport Rail to be more than just a transport project and this draft Masterplan makes it clear that the future of Sunshine is bright.

“Working with the State Government and the community we are excited about bringing this Masterplan to life.

“The Masterplan is a great result.  We also look forward to these exciting projects being funded in the May State Budget.

“The potential of Sunshine will be realised by all levels of government working together with the local community.

“Please visit engage.vic.gov.au/sunshine and provide your feedback.  It’s important that community are involved every step of the way as Sunshine is transformed through major transport investment and other developments.

“Thank you to the Minister and State Government for listening to the community and putting forward this great plan that will help Sunshine shine,” she said.
