Brimbank Council marked National Police Legacy Day with a light projection across Hampshire Road opposite Sunshine Library on Wednesday 17 June.
The purple light display represented one of the colours of the Michaelmas Daisy, which is the official flower and symbol of Police Legacy.
National Police Legacy Day is an opportunity to publicly recognise the dedication and service of police members who have made the ultimate sacrifice and their family members.
Every Australian state and territory, including Victoria, has its own Police Legacy that supports police families after loss.
Last year, Victoria Police Legacy supported 1320 people, including 105 children, with counselling, visits, social activities, education and career grants to providing comfort, connection, and practical assistance.
