Taylors Ward Update – Autumn 2022

Update on the new aquatic centre, a new school crossing, and revegetation projects in your local parks. There’s lots going on in Taylors Ward.

Taylors Ward covers:

  • Calder Park
  • Delahey
  • Keilor Downs
  • Keilor Lodge
  • North Keilor
  • Taylors Lakes
  • Sydenham
  • The Brimbank part of Hillside

Taylors Ward is COVIDSafe and opening up.

While some local services, such as the Watergardens customer service centre, have been temporarily closed due to COVID-19 impacts, others have been able to continue providing COVID safe programs.

Outdoor sports events and programs, including school holiday programs, are running at Delahey Community Centre. The centre will also be piloting an in house drop in program for young people in 2022, so keep your eye on Council’s website for details.

Although Sydenham Library has been operating on reduced hours we’re pleased to have been able to safely resume children’s and adult learning programs, such as story times, and English and digital literacy sessions.

The new Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre.

Works are continuing on the new Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre in Taylors Road, Keilor Downs.
We can’t wait for the exciting new facility to be ready for community use later this year. You’ll be hearing a lot more over the coming months. In the meantime, here is the latest update on the works.

You can sign up for updates on the aquatic centre here.

New school crossing.

We’ve also been keeping a close eye on general community requirements, such as school crossings. Council investigations confirmed that an unsupervised children’s school crossing was required at Santa Monica Drive, Keilor Lodge. Works are complete, the crossing has been installed and is operational near Catholic Regional College.

There are many parks and conservation reserves to enjoy in Taylors Ward.

We’re continuing works to protect our conservation reserves with the 2022 Revegetation Plan finalised.

Why not participate in one of our community planting events in Taylors Valley and Sydenham Park this year?
