Create Belonging Tell us about your wonderful neighbours. Relationships Australia is the home of Neighbours Every Day

Tell us about your good neighbour for the chance to win a prize

Good neighbours are worth their weight in gold and we want to hear about the wonderful person in your street that makes your life sweet!

Do you have a neighbour that always mows your lawn, bakes delicious cakes, checks on others or simply lends an ear to listen?

Give them a shout-out by submitting a short story for potential publication on this news site.

The upcoming Neighbour Day on Sunday 26 March with a theme of ‘Create Belonging’ is a chance for Brimbank to champion its local heroes – the ones living next door, over the road, down the street or around the corner.

By submitting your story you will go into a draw to win a Neighbour Day prize pack for you and your neighbour including a three-month membership for the newly opened Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre.

Story submissions must be received by Friday 14 April 2023. Winners will be notified directly.

To be eligible to enter the draw, you must live, work, play, volunteer or do business in Brimbank, be over 18 years or have a parent/guardian consent.

Employees of Brimbank City Council or their family members or anyone else connected to them will not be permitted to enter the draw.

Please get your neighbour’s permission to publish a story and picture of them for privacy reasons. High-quality images of landscape orientation are preferable – as are smiling faces.

Submit your story, via our Good Neighbour Contributions page.

Be a good neighbour every day of the year

Neighbours Every Day (NED) is the next evolution of the Neighbour Day campaign, and promotes the benefits of well-connected and resilient communities throughout the year.

This is a chance to get to know your neighbours, reconnect after the prolonged COVID-19 lockdowns, welcome newcomers and encourage healthy neighbourhoods.

Brimbank was the first council in Victoria to be recognised as a Very Neighbourly Organisation by Relationships Australia.

We look forward to hearing about the wonderful neighbours in your life and what makes Brimbank so special.
