Tips for recycling your pine Christmas tree

Here’s an easy way to responsibly dispose of your pine Christmas tree after the season’s festivities are over.

If you’re planning a clean-up around the house and booking Council’s hard waste collection service, you can add your pine tree to your pile of items for collection. All residential properties are entitled to one ‘no charge’ collection each financial year. Additional bookings are available at cost.

If you have a green waste bin, you can also chop up your pine tree and place it inside this bin, and Council will collect it on your green waste delivery day.

Placing your pine Christmas tree in your garbage bin isn’t great for the environment. It adds to landfill and produces methane – a potent greenhouse gas that increases global warming.
