Parks across Melbourne’s Western region are in the running for a share of the Victorian Government’s $30 million ‘Pick my Park’ upgrade program. Four of Brimbank City Council’s parks have been shortlisted.
The community get the final say on which projects are funded, through a public vote.
The Department of Transport and Planning have asked the public which parks they would like to see upgraded in their area, with the projects that receive the most votes being funded.
Three Brimbank parks are in the running, including Singer Avenue Reserve in Keilor Downs, Collenso Street Dog Reserve in Sunshine West and Keilor Downs Recreation Reserve. The newly proposed Willis Street Pocket Park in St Albans has also been shortlisted.
Brimbank Deputy Mayor, Cr Maria Kerr, said that parks and recreation areas in Brimbank offer residents opportunities for connection, relaxation and healthy physical activity. She has encouraged the community to participate in voting.
