Brimbank Mayor, Cr Virginia Tachos said Council was proud to empower local community groups through this year’s community grants program.
“We’re committed to championing innovative projects and activities that respond to Brimbank’s needs and reflect the priorities shaping our community.
“These Council grants will enable local groups to deliver initiatives that boost community health and wellbeing, support life-long learning, encourage sustainable living, showcase Brimbank as a vibrant destination, and strengthen community connections through partnerships and networks,” Cr Tachos said.
Council allocated funding for innovative projects such as:
- Bringing refugees and asylum seekers together with local residents and services to share food, connect, and access support as they settle into Brimbank.
- A series of physical activity workshops that give young people facing barriers access to dance and arts opportunities.
- Creating a mural celebrating diversity, kindness, and equality to inspire students and the wider community to be more inclusive and respectful.
- A program helping neurodivergent young people overcome barriers when transitioning into work and adulthood.
- Supporting seniors’ groups with funding that strengthens their day-to-day operations and enhances ongoing activities.
“We look forward to seeing the positive outcomes these grants will create over the next year.
“Council also offers Quick Response Grants – both Responsive and Establishment – to help community groups meet emerging or unexpected needs outside the annual program. Assessments are held in February, August and November,” Cr Tachos said.
