Your Career Your Way empowering job seekers

Your Career Your Way is a program in partnership between Brimbank Council and Victoria University Skills & Jobs Centre and is designed to support individuals—particularly career seekers and community members—in building confidence, accessing employment opportunities, and taking charge of their career journey. This group of experienced carers are the newest graduates of the program, and one of them has already secured a job.

Program facilitator Dianne Debrincat says the initiative goes beyond resumes and interviews, aiming to empower participants with the self-belief and tools they need to make informed career decisions.

“It’s not just about job preparation—it’s about understanding what’s important to you and helping you confidently pursue the path that’s right. Many participants gain not only skills and clarity, but friendships and networks that continue well beyond the program.”

Delivered by the Victoria University Skills and Jobs Centre, the program offers ongoing support from career counsellors and takes a holistic, personalised approach to career development.

“I put my heart and soul into delivering the program and being able to empower and support Carers in such a valuable way is a small way of giving back to people who truly deserve it.

“To see someone arrive overwhelmed by anxiety and leave feeling confident—it’s the most rewarding part.”

The next round of the program will be commencing on 30 July and to contact blfvisycareshub@brimbank.vic.gov.au for enquiries.
