In Australia, over 200,000 tonnes of clothing goes to landfill each year. We’re the second biggest consumer of fashion and textiles in the world per capita! Reducing clothing consumption and reusing clothes is one of the key things that we can do to help address this issue.
Brimbank City Council is excited to host a clothing swap on Tuesday 26 September at VISY Cares Hub in Sunshine. This event is part of Youth Fest 2023 and is open to all young people aged 10 to 25.
At the Clothing Swap, you’ll be able to browse through clothing to choose new-to-you pieces to swap with items you no longer want. Bring up to five items of clothing / accessories you no longer wear and exchange them for five swapped items. Clothes brought to the swap MUST be clean, good quality and in good condition: not worn out, faded, pillaged, pongy or damaged. Good quality also means something you would gift to a friend.
Drop off your items between 11am-12pm. Swapping will start at 12pm.
Please stay for a BBQ lunch outside the venue.
