Brimbank Council adopts Annual Budget 2022-2023

Council has adopted the Annual Budget for 2022-2023 that prioritises improving parks, roads and sporting facilities, addresses climate emergency, and supports our community with mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

The Budget will continue to play a critical role in underpinning our recovery efforts and supporting the community and businesses through COVID-19, while also delivering much-needed services and programs across our community.

Capital works program

In this Budget we’ll be investing $56.64 million on capital works to fund the delivery of projects, services and facilities across our city.

Highlights include:

  • $5.57 million for playgrounds, parks, gardens, skate parks and dog parks
  • $26.21 million to improve roads and replace footpaths and kerbsides
  • $11.45 million for sports facility upgrades
  • $1.2 million to upgrade town centres
  • $1.78 million for community facilities improvements
  • $1.57 million on bike paths and shared paths
  • $1.02 million on land rehabilitation
  • $1.23 million on stormwater drainage rehabilitation
  • $800,000 on library books
  • $905,000 on traffic management

We received over 150 submissions on the budget, showing our community’s keen interest in making Brimbank better.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback throughout the process, because of you we made several changes to the budget, including:

• $50,000 more to support the Keilor Sports Club in progressing to detailed designs and costings for redevelopment of the facility
• $50,000 more for installation of a concrete path around the perimeter of Pitch 1, Keilor Park
• $11,000 one-off grant to support Western Chances to undertake a Social Return on Investment Evaluation
• $20,000 more for an Arts Hub in Brimbank for micro arts organisations working with diversity
