How to start and maintain a school food garden: TEN Event

School food gardens are a great way to empower your school community and provide a safe-haven for students who may struggling to fit in. In this Teachers’ Environment Network (TEN) professional development event, gain the fundamental knowledge required to successfully start and maintain a school food garden. All school staff, educators, teacher aides and playgroup leaders are welcome – at no charge.

Snacks will be provided. This event will include a short tour of Mackellar Primary School’s food garden.

Topics include:
•    Starting/ designing food gardens in schools
•    Soil and seed preparation
•    Seed selection
•    Tips on growing and maintaining plants
•    The fundamentals of composting & worm farming
•    A short Q&A session
