Brimbank Leisure team wins four Aquatics and Recreation Victoria Awards

Brimbank City Council’s leisure centre team rocked it at the disco themed Aquatic and Recreation Victoria Industry Awards on Friday evening 23 June at Centrepoint, Olympic Park.

Congratulations to

  • Yvonne Widjaja who won the Membership Sales Award,
  • Sasho Ilievski who won the Course Instructor/Presenter Award
  • Haren Weerasiri who won the Emerging Leader Award

Our six-star green star energy-rated Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre also received the Sustainability Award. This builds on the sustainability program at Sunshine Leisure Centre which has been the recipient of this award for the past few years.

Well done to other team members whose exceptional work was acknowledged in the presence of over 880 guests at this annual industry event which honours the significant contribution of this sector to Victoria’s wellbeing and physical fitness.

  • Tamara Antunovic nominated for Customer Service Award
  • Stephen D’Silva nominated for the Most Valuable Employee Award
  • Denzel Pieterse nominated for Pool Lifeguard Award
  • Kristy Galea nominated for Swim Teacher of Babies, Infants and Preschool Award
  • Kate Hudgson nominated for Swim Teacher of People with a Disability
  • Katerina Van Ooijen nominated for Group Exercise Instructor Award

The Brimbank Swim School was also nominated for the Swim School Award of the Year Award.

Other programs that were acknowledged at the awards were the Inclusive Communities @BAWC, the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre launch, as well as Watch around Water Award and the Iraqi Women: Community Active Living Program.

The Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre was also nominated for the Health Club Award and Facility Management Award.
