Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic said:

“Employment is essential for good life outcomes and Brimbank council is committed to help people in our community find and secure meaningful work.

“This year we have a new event which links local jobs with local people, including businesses like Civik People, a social enterprise focus on creating jobs for refugees and humanitarian migrants, and JBS Australia- one of the largest manufacturers in Brimbank, and Home Instead are looking to recruit people into paid carer giver roles.

“Brimbank has one of Melbourne’s highest jobless rates, which is why council is focused on building pathways to employment with jobs right here in our city. So, if you’re looking for work or looking for workers, please reach out and come along to some of our events during National Careers Week.”

The Brimbank Local Jobs Showcase is a new event where Council is hoping to match local people with local jobs on the spot. JB’s is one of the local companies that will be looking for workers. JB’s are based in Brooklyn and supply provides industry-leading workwear including corporate, hospitality, uniforms, clothing for schools, sporting clubs and a great range of casual wear. They said:

“At JBS, we highly value having community members as part of our growing team. Not only does this reduce travel time for work, but it also facilitates better connections with our local customers. We appreciate being able to engage with individuals who are familiar with and passionate about the Brimbank community.”

The Brimbank Local Jobs Showcase will be held on Wednesday 15 May from 2-6pm at Brimbank Learning Futures (Visy Cares Hub), 80b Harvester Road, Sunshine.
