Cr Ranka Rasic is the elected Mayor of Brimbank until 26 October 2024, when the next Local Government elections will be held.
The new Mayor was elected by fellow Councillors at a special meeting of Council on Friday evening 17 November 2023.
Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic takes over from outgoing Mayor Cr Bruce Lancashire, and will lead the municipality in the final year of the four-year term of this elected Council.
Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic said:
“It’s an honour and privilege to be elected as the new Mayor of Brimbank. I look forward to taking on this important role to serve the Brimbank community.
“The past three years of this council term have been both a challenging and rewarding time, where we as Councillors have come together to work for the best interest of the residents and ratepayers of Brimbank City Council.
“As Mayor of Brimbank, I look forward to continuing this hard work over my term and leading Council to achieve the best possible outcomes with support from both state and federal Government.
“I would also like to thank all my fellow Councillors who have put their trust in me to lead this beautiful, vibrant multicultural city for the next year. With a united Brimbank Council, we can achieve much for our diverse community,” said Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic.
This is Cr Rasic’s second time as Mayor, after serving in the mayoral role from 2020-2021 and as Deputy Mayor from 2022-2023.
Councillor Jae Papalia was also elected by the Council as the new Deputy Mayor for the same term.

“I’d also like to thank outgoing Mayor, Cr Bruce Lancashire for his outstanding achievements and hard work over the past year.
