All-year quick and responsive community grants now open for applications

A new year-round Brimbank Quick Response Grants Program is now open for applications from not-for-profit organisations, community groups and organisations.

The new program offers two types of grants:

  • Establishment Grants – up to $1,500
  • Responsive Grants – up to $2,000

The grants are designed to help:

  • deliver projects that improve community health and wellbeing
  • support life-long learning
  • encourage sustainable living, and
  • build capacity through partnerships and networks.

Grant applications will be assessed three times a year in February, August and November.

“Brimbank Council recognises that needs might not always fit neatly into the annual Community Grant cycle so we have the opportunity under the Quick Response Grants Program to distribute funds throughout the year,” said Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic.

“Limiting the amount of these grants to a maximum of $2,000 each allows for a shorter assessment cycle and quicker turnaround time for approval, helping community groups to get their activities, events and projects up and running even faster,” said Cr Rasic.

The Establishment Grants offer support for new community groups, including new seniors groups that are permanently based in Brimbank. Applicants can be unincorporated at the time of application but must be able to provide evidence of incorporation and public liability insurance in their final grant acquittal report.

Examples of the types of things Council might fund include the costs of incorporation and insurance; stationery, materials and equipment to support set–up; promotion and recruitment of new members; and the cost of regular meeting venues.

The Responsive Grants meet emerging community needs across the year. Examples include neighbourhood activations and projects to raise community awareness of issues such as gambling, homelessness, community safety, and more.

The new grants program is being offered in addition to Council’s annual community grants.

Brimbank Council has reserved $63,000 from the Brimbank Community Grants Program for these year-round grants.
